About Abogados De Inmigracion Miami

A bilingual immigration law team serving individuals, families and workers across Miami, FL.

Our Story and Our Purpose

Abogados De Inmigracion Miami is the Miami location of the Gursoy Law Firm, P.C., an immigration practice that has represented thousands of clients over more than two decades. The firm serves clients in New York, New Jersey and Miami, Florida, and its attorneys have handled hundreds of trials and hearings in immigration court and federal court.

We opened our Miami office because South Florida is home to a large and diverse immigrant community that deserves strong legal support in a language people understand. Many of our clients are parents trying to keep their families together, workers seeking stability, students planning their futures and people who fled danger and need protection. Each of them has a story, and we learn it before we recommend any strategy.

Our purpose is simple. We want every client to understand the law that applies to them, to feel respected in our office and to be proud they chose us. We believe clients deserve more than a formal relationship with a lawyer. They deserve a partnership built on honesty and clear communication.

The firm has built its reputation on immigration court defense, asylum cases, deportation matters and family based immigration. Our primary area of focus is filing for asylum in immigration court, and that daily courtroom work informs how we prepare every other type of case, from a simple green card petition to a citizenship application.

Meet Founding Attorney Mike Gursoy

Mike Gursoy, Esq. is the founding attorney of the Gursoy Law Firm, P.C. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2000 and has spent more than 25 years representing individuals and families in cases involving asylum, defense against deportation, family based immigration, citizenship and matters related to DACA. He earned his law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in New York City.

Mike has represented thousands of clients before USCIS and immigration courts, and his practice focuses on high stakes cases where detention, court deadlines and family separation make a clear plan essential. He is also an educator within the profession, having taught continuing legal education courses for attorneys and delivered lectures on immigration law and practice.

Many attorneys rely on the firm for help with complicated matters, including cases involving criminal convictions. That depth of knowledge supports every client we serve in Miami.

Mike leads a multilingual team that serves clients in English, Spanish, Russian, Haitian Creole and Turkish. Under his direction, the firm follows a simple standard: each case receives a thorough review, a clear strategy and consistent follow up, whether the client is applying for a first green card or defending against removal.

What Guides Our Work

Our values shape how we speak to clients, prepare cases and represent people before government agencies.

Honesty

We explain strengths and weaknesses openly. If a strategy carries risk, you will hear about it before you decide.

Preparation

Strong cases are built early. We gather evidence, organize records and rehearse testimony so you feel ready.

Respect

Immigration matters are personal. We treat every client with patience, dignity and attention to what is at stake.

A Bilingual Team for a Multilingual City

Language should never stand between you and the law. As a bilingual immigration attorney practice, we provide service in English and Spanish, and our wider team also speaks Russian, Haitian Creole and Turkish. When you work with an abogado de inmigracion who speaks your language, you can ask questions freely, understand every document you sign and prepare accurately for interviews.

Professional Recognition and Memberships

Our attorneys are proud members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The firm has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal for its professional accomplishments, and its attorneys have contributed to national and international publications. These activities keep our knowledge current and help us serve clients better. We also take part in continuing legal education, because immigration policy, regulations and court decisions change often, and clients deserve advice based on the rules that apply today.

What to Expect at Your First Consultation

At your first meeting, we ask about your immigration history, family, work, travel and any past applications or encounters with authorities. Please bring passports, visas, notices and any court papers you have received. We will explain the law that applies, outline possible paths and describe the steps, timing and documents involved. You will leave with a clearer picture and the ability to decide how to proceed. There is no pressure to make an immediate decision. Take the time you need, ask every question that comes to mind and bring a family member if that makes you more comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to common questions from clients seeking immigration help in Miami.

How do I know which immigration case fits my situation?

The right path depends on your family ties, work history, how you entered the country, any past filings and any criminal or immigration history. An immigration attorney reviews these details and explains which options are realistic, which carry risk and which should be filed first.

How long does a green card case take?

Timelines vary widely. Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens often move faster, while some family and employment categories are limited by visa availability and can take years. Processing times at USCIS and the consulates also change, so we review current timelines with you before filing.

Can I apply for asylum if I have been in the United States for more than one year?

In many cases yes. Asylum applications are generally due within one year of arrival, but exceptions exist for changed circumstances or extraordinary circumstances that explain the delay. An attorney can evaluate whether an exception applies to you.

Can I work while my asylum case is pending?

Asylum applicants may become eligible to apply for employment authorization after a waiting period, generally around 150 days after filing. Once approved, you can work legally while the case is pending.

What should I do if I receive a Notice to Appear?

Contact an immigration lawyer right away and never skip a hearing. Missing court can lead to an order of removal in your absence. An attorney can check the charges, request bond if needed and identify forms of relief.

Is DACA still available?

DACA rules and court rulings have changed several times. Eligibility for initial requests and renewals depends on current policy, so schedule a consultation for an up to date review of your options.

Do you offer consultations in Spanish?

Yes. Abogados De Inmigracion Miami provides bilingual service, and our wider team also serves clients in Russian, Haitian Creole and Turkish.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash and credit cards.

Green Card Lawyer

A green card gives you the right to live and work permanently in the United States, and the application must be handled with care. As a green card lawyer in Miami, we help clients apply through family members, employers, humanitarian programs and other eligible categories. We determine whether you should adjust status inside the country or complete consular processing abroad, because that choice affects timing and risk.

We prepare the petition, the supporting documents and the financial evidence, and we make sure forms are consistent. Common problems include unlawful entry, prior removal orders, criminal charges and incomplete proof of a real marriage. Spotting these issues before filing can save months of delay. We also assist with interview preparation, requests for evidence, renewals and removal of conditions on a two year green card. Call us to learn which green card path may fit your family and what documents to start collecting now.

Deportation Defense

Receiving a Notice to Appear is frightening, but it does not mean removal is certain. Deportation defense is about acting quickly, protecting your rights and presenting every available form of relief to an immigration judge. Our attorneys have handled hundreds of hearings and represent clients facing removal proceedings, detention and complicated criminal histories.

We review the charges, check whether the government can prove them and look for defenses such as cancellation of removal, asylum, adjustment of status, waivers and other relief. When a client is detained, we work on bond and prepare for the first hearing right away. We build evidence, prepare witnesses and coach you for testimony so you can speak with confidence. If you or a loved one has received a court notice or an arrest from immigration officers, call us immediately. Never miss a hearing, because an order issued in your absence can be very difficult to undo.

Citizenship Attorney

Becoming a U.S. citizen is a proud moment, and a citizenship attorney helps you reach it safely. Before filing for naturalization, we check your continuous residence, physical presence, good moral character and travel history. Some applicants have arrests, tax issues or long trips abroad that must be reviewed first, because an application filed too early or with errors can lead to denial or even trigger further scrutiny.

Our Miami citizenship attorneys prepare the application with great care, gather supporting records and help you study for the English and civics tests. We also prepare you for the interview, explain the questions about your background and attend with you when appropriate. We assist with N-600 certificates for people who may already be citizens through their parents. If you have held a green card for several years and wonder whether you qualify, contact us for an eligibility review. We will tell you honestly whether to file now or wait, and what to fix first.

Asylum Lawyer

Asylum is protection for people already in the United States who cannot safely return home because of persecution or a genuine fear of it. The fear must be linked to race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Our asylum lawyers represent clients in both affirmative cases filed with USCIS and defensive cases presented to an immigration judge.

Asylum is a core focus of our practice. Many applicants do not have documents because they fled in a hurry, and the law allows a case to be won on credible testimony alone. That is why we invest heavily in preparing your declaration and your testimony so that it is consistent, detailed and believable. We also explain the one year filing deadline and the exceptions that may apply, plus the work permit that may become available after about 150 days. If you fear returning to your country, speak with an asylum lawyer in Miami as soon as possible.

DACA Lawyer

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals has given many young people a chance to study, work and plan their futures. The rules and court rulings surrounding DACA have changed repeatedly, so it is important to rely on current information. A DACA lawyer can review your eligibility, explain what applications may be accepted and help you avoid mistakes that could expose you to risk.

We assist with renewals when they are available, work permit questions and background checks. We also look beyond DACA to the bigger picture. Some Dreamers qualify for family based green cards, special visas or other relief that offers a more lasting solution, and we will explain when that may be the case. A single arrest, a gap in documentation or an old filing can change your options, so a careful review is wise before you submit anything. Contact our Miami office to discuss your situation and build a long term plan that protects your education, your job and your family.

Family Immigration Attorney

Families should not be separated by paperwork. A family immigration attorney helps U.S. citizens and permanent residents petition for spouses, children, parents and siblings, and helps fiance visa applicants prepare for a new life together. Because processing time depends on the relationship and on visa availability, we explain the likely timeline before you file.

Marriage cases require strong proof that the relationship is genuine. We help you gather photographs, shared financial records, leases and affidavits, and we prepare both spouses for the interview. We also handle affidavits of support, waivers for certain violations, and conditional residence removal. When a loved one is abroad, we manage consular processing step by step. If a family member is facing deportation, we look for relief through relatives who are citizens or residents. Every family is different, and our attorneys take time to understand yours. Call us to discuss which petition fits your family and how to prepare a complete, well organized case.

We assist with adjustment of status, consular processing, replacement cards, renewals and the removal of conditions for spouses who received a two year card. Each service follows a checklist so that nothing is overlooked.

We confirm the immigrant petition, prepare the medical exam and affidavit of support, and assemble proof of lawful entry or eligibility to adjust. We also review work permit and travel permit applications that can be filed while the case is pending, and we explain why traveling without advance permission can be risky. If USCIS sends a request for evidence or schedules an interview, we respond promptly and prepare you in advance. Clients appreciate that we keep them updated on every receipt notice and decision. Bilingual Immigration Attorney

A bilingual immigration attorney removes the language barrier that makes the legal process harder than it needs to be. Our Miami team serves clients in English and Spanish, and the wider firm also communicates in Russian, Haitian Creole and Turkish. You can describe your history in the language that feels most natural and receive explanations that you fully understand.

This matters because immigration forms ask detailed questions, and a small misunderstanding can lead to inconsistent answers. When we prepare your application, we review each response with you line by line. When you attend an interview or hearing, we practice the questions beforehand so that you feel calm. Families also benefit, because parents, children and relatives can all take part in the conversation. If you prefer to speak with an abogado de inmigracion in Spanish, we are ready.
